What Polish Universities Actually Look For
Document legalisation and credential recognition — apostille, notarised translations, and NAWA or university-level equivalency checks — are treated as strict eligibility gates in Poland, and an incomplete document set is one of the most common reasons a strong applicant is delayed or rejected outright.
Polish universities generally place less emphasis on a polished personal narrative than UK or US institutions, and more on verified academic transcripts, prerequisite subject coverage, and — for medicine and related fields — entrance examination performance.
For English-taught programmes, proof of English proficiency is checked against each university's own accepted test list and minimum score, which can differ meaningfully between institutions even for the same subject area.
Programme-specific entrance exams are common for competitive fields like medicine and dentistry, and are scored and weighted independently of your prior academic record — strong performance here can matter more than transcript strength alone.
